This beach cottage is small in the best possible way. Cozy and completely centered around its unbeatable location. The house literally overlooks the beach and ocean. For public beach access step outside go down a couple houses and you’re there. The decks are wonderful for coffee in the morning, sunsets in the evening and watching the ocean all day. If you’re looking for a beach stay and don’t need a lot of square footage this cottage delivers. Would absolutely stay again.

Location, location, location! This 1950’s charming private cottage is located directly on Heceta Beach with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. It has an expansive multilayered deck for watching wildlife, reading a book or taking in the magnificent sunsets. It’s your gateway to everything PNW on the Central Oregon Coast. So many wonderful experiences within the area of this home ~ hiking, walking, biking, kite flying, fungi foraging, fine dining etc. It’s a favorite of ours & we return annually on holiday. Kudos to the hosts, it feels like being at home, but with a view & within the warm confines of a cozy comfortable cottage.

We loved the Octopus Cottage! The cottage itself was cute , had nice beach decor, was quaint like a beach cottage should be. The view of the ocean was spectacular and if that is all you did it would be okay. But there was an easy beach trail down to a great beach. I also really want the rocking chairs on the deck. We had a clear night that we could sit and look at the stars and hear the ocean. Paula was a wonderful host who responded very quickly and was friendly and helpful. I really hope that we are able to go back soon to stay again. Thank you Paula. It was a nice relaxing break!

People have left reviews about the place being small, it’s actually a very nice size. The bedrooms are small, but what more do you need than a place to sleep?I thought it was darling. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I don’t want to say too much good about it because when I want to go back, I want to make sure it’s available. It was a lovely place to spend time.

The Octopus cottage is extremely cute, perfectly positioned by the ocean, and has a great functional fireplace. What's not to love? just sit on the deck and watch the waves roll in

About this space

This is a classic and historic 50’s cottage. It may be small but it is cozy and has a gigantic view of the ocean and beach.

The space
This is a stand alone cottage located on the Heceta Beach in Florence, Oregon. A rustic, authentic and original beach cottage. I have added a state-of-the-art septic and a large cedar deck with massive cement pilings for stoutness and safety. There are two cedar Adirondack rocking chairs on the deck for relaxing and enjoying the ocean.

This is a little place with two separate bedrooms. The bedrooms are not large but comfortable. One is the master suite with a queen size bed and the other two extra long twin beds. Since the cottage was built in the 50’s, the original builder did not think doors were necessary on the bedrooms, and there is a full length curtain hanging there instead of a door which does work for privacy. The location is fantastic, up on a berm or large sand dune, and looks out over the beach and ocean.
The wood pellet outdoor smoker/barbecue is not in service at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.
There are many great places of interest in the area; gorgeous scenery,
Heceta Head Lighthouse, Devil’s Churn, Old Town Florence, and Yachats.

Guest access
Only the cottage itself is accessible, the beach is public and accessible to everyone.

Other things to note
The fireplace is wood burning and you are free to use as you wish. Please bring your own wood or duraflame logs to burn in the fireplace.
As a business owner at the ocean, I feel it is my duty to protect the ocean as much as possible. Therefore, I am switching to environmentally and ocean safe products. I am currently switching to Mrs. Meyers, which has a broad repertoire of environmentally friendly cleaning products. I also have a recycling bin for as many recycling items as possible, but garbage is there as well. You will see two cans in the parking area. The recycling bin has a yellow lid. The garbage has bear and bird proof latches on the lid. Just squeeze the latch handle and it will open.
